Jasmine Simpkins is a TV reporter, writer and producer. A native of Los Angeles, Jasmine has always had a passion for the arts and entertainment and began her journey as a journalist back at UCLA where she began writing and reporting for the Daily Bruin.
After college, Jasmine's enthusiasm for reporting and her stellar work ethic would land her an internship with the L.A. Times, ghost writing a fashion column for NYC fashion designer B. Michael, and a managing editor position with L.A. FOCUS newspaper.
Her years working red carpets and writing her column "Inside Hollywood with Jasmine Simpkins" would later garner the attention of the Starz network, who was looking for a LA-based reporter and producer to host their entertainment interstitial "In The Cut". At Starz Jasmine would go on to interview everyone from Stevie Wonder to Debbie Allen to Jamie Foxx and was later called upon to help the network produce other segments and original programming including the documentary "11-04-08: The Day of Change" chronicling the day President Barack Obama was elected the first African American President of the United States.
Since, Jasmine has worked for networks like BET and sites like AOL reporting and producing, and has garnered a reputation for having amazing industry contacts and trusted for her thought provoking interviews and ability to break stories.
In 2013 she was selected as a guest contributor on Jillian Barberie’s short lived magazine show “The Hollywood Mix” coming on weekly to talk about hot topics and entertainment news.
From 2012 to 2016 she was the host and producer for TV One’s daily entertainment news segments and was also a regular contributor on “News One Now” with Roland Martin.
Currently she is the senior producer and correspondent for Kevin Frazier's site HipHollywood.com , covering film junkets all around the globe, award shows and red carpet events, and is also a regular contributor on HLN, CNN and KTLA.
