Freelance photographer | Boardmember, Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles
Jose Lopez is a freelance photographer who finds a deep interest in covering stories of social and political value. He has built a body of work that includes the 2016 Presidential Election, Black Lives Matter, and the opening of Cuba. Some of his most recent stories include the aftermath of the Woolsey fire and the migrant caravan in Tijuana. Jose has been published in the with EPA, the Orange County Register and online with KCRW. As a student, Jose has twice been awarded first place place in the PPAGLA Student Photojournalist of the Year competition. In addition, he has been recognized by CPOY with their Award of Excellence for Spot News. His role with Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles began with a student membership and from there he worked his way to becoming a freelance photographer and becoming elected to the Board Member.
