Los Angeles, CA –The Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalist has elected new leadership.

Tre’vell Anderson, a film reporter for the Los Angeles Times, is elected President. Jerome Campbell, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times’ Homicide Report, is elected Vice President.

“NABJ-LA has a long-standing history of training the next generation of journalists as well as advocating for balanced coverage of the African American community,” Anderson said. “I look forward to honoring the traditions of this organization and working on new initiatives that will impact the future of black journalists and the coverage of black communities.”

Former President, Xavier Higgs, steps down after leading the organization for three years.

“It has been an honor to serve as President and lead this organization during a time of significant demographic changes in news rooms and the advances in technology,” said Higgs. “I am happy to pass the baton to the new administration as they lead in this new era where the media and their value are being tested.”
